'Demonstrators took to Afghanistan’s streets for a third day on Sunday to protest against a U.S. preacher’s plan to burn copies of the Koran even though he has since withdrawn the threat.
Chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Christians”, demonstrators clashed with Afghan security forces in Logar province, south of the capital Kabul.

Three demonstrators were wounded, one seriously, when Afghan security forces opened fire on Sunday to disperse hundreds of protesters marching to Pul-e-Alam, the capital of Logar province, said Din Mohammad Darwish, the provincial governor’s spokesman.
The protesters threatened to attack foreign military bases. There are almost 150,000 foreign troops fighting a growing Taliban-led insurgency in Afghanistan.
“The governor must give us an assurance that the church is not going to burn the Koran, otherwise we will attack foreign troop bases in our thousands,” protester Mohammad Yahya said.'"

Neither of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
No one claimed responsibility for the attacks. But suspicion immediately fell on Islamic hard-liners who have repeatedly warned members of the Batak Christian Protestant Church against worshipping on a field housing their now-shuttered church.
In recent months, they have thrown shoes and water bottles at the church members, interrupted sermons with chants of “Infidels!” and “Leave Now!” and dumped piles of feces on the land.'"

Terry Jones, pastor of a small Florida church, said Saturday that “we feel that God is telling us to stop” the Quran burning, which was to coincide with the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States.

CAIR Reports Burned Quran Smeared With Feces Found At Mosque…
"(The Detroit News) — 'A burned Quran was found at a mosque in East Lansing on Saturday, prompting the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to ask the FBI to investigate.
CAIR-MI reports that officials of the Islamic Center of East Lansing say vandals left a burned Quran at the front entrance of the mosque and scattered pages in the street nearby.
“The perpetrators of this unconscionable act of religious intimidation must be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of state and federal law,” CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid said in a statement.
Torn pages of the Quran appeared to be smeared with feces, CAIR officials said.
A spokesman for the FBI could not immediately be reached for comment.'"

So, let me get this straight, Islamic nations have burned thousands of bibles throughout the world and one preacher threatening to burn the Koran and the Islamists are offended by the threat?
Tolerance only works if it’s applied to all religions equally!

We cannot control how Muslimsin other countries will react. We CAN control how WE will recat in our own country.

We set the bar WAY too low if we think we can treat Islam in America the way Christianity is being treated in the Muslim world. Not only are we better than that, but our Constitution demands that we be better than that.

That ain't the way we're supposed to do it in America, moron. There's no quid pro quo for asserting one's contitutional rights. The Constitution doesn't say "You have freedom of religion in the United States, provided you offer freedom of religion to Christianity in your country."
