Several days ago, I had a serious debate with my mother over whether or not the true God of the universe is the same God as the god of Islam, Allah. My mother is convinced that they are one and the same. I, on the other hand, reject that idea wholeheartedly. Jesus states in the Bible , “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“ (John 14:6) Therefore, Christ is the key element to reaching God. Without Him, one has no access to God. Therefore, my mother and many who share her viewpoint are dead wrong.
Another major difference is the fact that the God in the Bible was willing to give His Son to die for us, whereas Allah asks his followers to give their sons (and daughters) to die for him. Sounds to me like we Christians get a far better deal. What kind of god would desire his followers to intentionally kill themselves and others to earn his favor?
Watch this Hamas TV video, via Jihad Watch and you will find the answer to my question. Do not forget that these are the people that our president is so eager to support. He thinks they want peace. What a joke that is!

My hunch is that you have heard this often in your life, but your mom is right and you are wrong.
"Allah" is the Arabic word for "God". And Muslims believe it's the same God of Judaism and Christianity:
"Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, God's final prophet, through the angel Gabriel, and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam. They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Jews and Christians distorted the revelations God gave to these prophets by either altering the text, introducing a false interpretation, or both."
[That comes from Wikipedia, because it's concise, but you can find it almost anywhere, if you look.]
While all three religions purportedly worship the same God, all three also think the other two religions have screwed up in their interpretations of what God says. Jews think they have it right, Muslims think they have it right, and Christians think they have it right.
You don't seem to have a problem believing that YOUR version of God is the same God Jews recognize as Yahweh -- in fact, you tend to overcompensate in your recognition of the vengeful God of the Old Testament as opposed to the merciful God of the New Testament.
If the God of Christianity is different than Allah in Islam, then the Jews are "dead wrong" too, as they don't recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
You are right, Diogenes, the Jews are dead wrong for not recognizing Jesus as the Messiah. But, unlike the Muslims, the Jews share our Old Testament. Therefore, we share the same God the Father. But, they miss the key point that Jesus is the Son of God. But, Jesus is necessary for salvation because of what He says in John 14:6.
The Muslims accept Jesus as a prophet, but also do not believe that He is God. The only thing they have in common with Christianity and Judaism is that we all agree that Abraham was the father of both the Jews and Muslims.
The Muslim god has a much different temperament than the God of the Bible. You make God in the OT to be some kind of ogre, and that is not the case. Even in the OT, he was preparing for the arrival of the Messiah.
Allah, on the other hand, teaches his followers to kill Jews and Christians. How about the belief in martyrdom and how that will get Muslims to paradise? That clearly does not come from my God.
Wake up, Diogenes to the truth. You are ALWAYS against what the Bible says, yet you claim you are a Christian. If so, start defending what the Bible says. His truths are more important than being politically correct.
With all due respect, Ms. Moore, I was a divinity student, with an undergrad double major of history and religious studies. I have half a clue what I'm talking about. The Old Testament tends to portray a much more vengeful side of God, while the New Testament portrays the more merciful aspects of God. If you take it apart and read it in Hebrew and Greek (which I could do, once upon a time) and compare it, in a piterary sense, to other contemporaneous documents, it's not that tough to see... and it doesn't inhibit one's faith; in fact, it put it on a whole different plane, for me.
And if you study the Old Testament enough, you'll see plenty of invitations to stone nonbelievers and sinners. I'm not going to get into a tit for tat analysis of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, especially since youo're so inherently predisposed against any and all things Muslim.
Believe whatever you want; the facts and the truth don't have to restrict you any. They haven't so far.
A divinity student. That explains all the "head knowledge". The Pharisees and Saducees also had that.
But, have you experienced a personal relationship with Jesus as the Bible speaks of in John 3:3, and do you KNOW Him as your personal Savior because that is what is required for eternal life?
No, I don't have any divinity school experience, but I have made it a practice for many years to read the entire Bible in a year, and I have sat under anointed men of God as they preach His Word.
But, best of all, I have had the experience of a relationship with a Savior who loves me in spite of all my failings and is a constant source of comfort and strength, a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Finding Him was a life-changing experience, one that I wouldn't trade for all the riches in the world. I'll take that over "head knowledge" any day.
Allah is not the same god. Did you watch that video? Look at the character differences between Jesus and allah. I would guess the true God would find your suggestion that they are one and the same blasphemous. Watch the video again and look at what allah requires of his followers. My God would never do something so hideous.
No, I didn't watch the video. I doubt any video -- especially one YOU post -- would properly summarize what any complex religion stands for. Would an IRA training video properly represent Christianity? Would a JDL tape tell you everything you need to know about Judaism?
And, once again, you feel a need to denigrate anybody who studies and gets an advanced degree. I'll agree that "book knowledge" isn't the only thing one needs -- but it's not an automatic disqualifier of one's ability to understand life. "Fancy educations" don't guarantee wisdom, but fancy education doesn't make you automatically stupid, either.
You can guess all you want to about what God might find blasphemous, but it's presumptive as hell, and offensive.
Diogenes, you still didn't answer my question. Do you know Jesus, as it says in John 3:3? Are you born again?
I am a Christian. How I got there is a personal issue that isn't fodder for your blog. Especially not on a thread about God and Allah being different beings.
I will say this: my God wants inclusiveness and harmony, not exclusiveness and division. I am sick to death of those who look to hide and/or destroy whatever common ground may exist between different peoples. I'm glad that the church I attend doesn't preach that approach to me.

Your god is Lucifer and I see you for who you are - a wolf in sheeps clothing! Divinity student and preches the creed of Mystery Babylon and the New World Order.
"Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division" Jesus Christ -Luke 12:51
BOOOGAH BOOOGAH BOOOGAH !
Mystery Babylon? New World Order?
Haven't seen either of them in my Bible, and have no idea what they are.
Are you going to cast a spell on me now, or a curse, or something?
Yeah yeah yeah, we get it: you evangelical rightwingnuts are God's Chosen People. You're "special" so we should all bow down to your views and pay homage to your incalculable wisdom.
You sound like Rev. Brown in "Inherit the Wind."
Curses and witchcraft is your neck of the woods my anti-christ friend. I don’t have to do anything at all because you will get everything you deserve on Judgment Day handed to you by the very God you blaspheme and abhor. Every word you write is the complete opposite of what Christ taught and yet not long ago you boasted of being a divinity student. Its just sad that you’re such a bad liar and so easy to recognize for who you truly are. So how long have you been a mason? You get your VeriChip implant yet? Got your immunity ticket from the FEMA camps? Alas, where are my manners, I have taken way too much of your time. Please resume worshiping Obama and following in the footsteps of Tubal Cain. Like I stated before, I don’t have to lift a finger. You know that you and all your kith and kin don’t have much time left until the vengeful return of the King of Kings. On that day, my hunger and thirst for righteousness will be quenched and we will see who has the last laugh. Until then keep on bragging that you’re a divinity student.
First off, I wasn't "bragging" and I said it in the past tense; I'm well past the usual age of being a student.
Secondly, I want to thank you. Sincerely, I do. You've brought a smile to my face. It's kind of refreshing to see someone unafraid of showing what a truly fully-blown nutjob they are.
Mystery Babylon... New World Order... Mason... VeriChip implant... FEMA immunity... Tubal Cain...
I hope people pay attention to the warning you've provided all of us.
See what happens when you forget your tinfoil hat, kids? You wind up like Anonymous! And you make Ms. Moore seem damn near normal, in comparison.
